Signature Search Fields Don't Exist

If you encounter this issue while searching in your project, open and save the eSign Project Settings. In July 2025 eSign for Jira added a workaround to re-register the eSign custom fields when the eSign Project Settings are saved.

Error

The custom search fields included with eSign for Jira do not appear, and claim to not exist when used.

Cause

An Atlassian change to custom fields no longer being added to new projects when created via API or app installation.

Things to Check

To add the signature search fields to a project:

  1. Go to Project Settings

  2. Under Fields press "Add Field" in the top right corner.

  3. Select Signature Count, Signature Export, Signature Pending, Signature Status Count, Signatures Finalized, Signed By, and Signed On.

  4. Press "Add 7 Fields" to include them in the project.

As long as a user is included in any project with these fields added, they should work in all of their other projects as well.
