Jira Invite Users list is Empty

Error

While attempting to invite users or groups to sign the search list is empty even after entering the name of a Jira user.

Cause

The user and group invite search uses a Jira API to find existing users and groups. Access to this data is controlled by Jira security.

For a User to see other users they require the “Browse users and groups” Global permission . This is typically granted to the Jira users group.

Things to Check

To add the security privilege so a user can invite other users:

  1. Go to https://<customersitename>.atlassian.net/secure/admin/GlobalPermissions!default.jspa as an admin

  2. Under Grant Permission select "Browse users and groups"

  3. Under Group select the group that has the users you want to give permission to list other users.

  4. This may take a few seconds to propagate
